Yes my Sanwa buttons finally arrived from Lizard Lick. I have already installed them and took it for a test run which I have to say they are totally worth every single penny. There is a huge difference in response time between my stock Hori buttons and the Sanwas.

There wasn’t much in the package considering it was only meant to ship buttons.

The buttons wrapped with air tight bag.

Package unwrapped.

The button itself with the white ball top.

And now on to dissecting this big block of plastic.

The back with the back plate removed.

More screws inside concealing the actual wiring of the stick.

Finally with all the screws removed you can take off the front plate which the stick and buttons are mounted to but be careful since the wire is “taped” down.

A shot of how the wiring and back of how the plate looks like.

The Sanwa stick that comes with HRAP3 has a standard square gate that all Japanese arcade machine use.

Make sure you label each wire for each button (Yes, I used my Gundam marker >_>) or else you might forget the wiring layout and if you do you’ll be in for a big surprise when you start playing.

I used a Phillips head screw driver to pry off the quick disconnects.

A comparison of the Hori stock 24 mm and Sanwa button which are used for my start + select.

These are the 30 mm Hori stock and Sanwa buttons used for your main functions.

With all the wiring removed you can clearly see how simple a stick is. You can even make a stick out of a pizza box if you really wanted to.

And after snapping/screwing all the screws back in and reattaching all the quick disconnects to the new buttons, we have a full Sanwa stick that can be found in arcades in Japan.

Before:

After:

Now I have left over stock Hori buttons and a Sanwa ball top which I can save for back up just in case my buttons decide to die on me or I can install them in my Mayflash stick!

Overall, Sanwa does live up to it’s name so don’t cheap out and not buy or mod your stick with full Sanwa parts because you’ll regret it!

Welcome to my first blog/post! I’ve never really “blogged” before so bare with me as I work out the kinks with Wordpress, which by the way is an awesome blog application (for me anyways since I don’t know squat).

So I’m kind of leaning towards putting up articles about things I am interested in; Design/Gaming. Recently I’ve been playing Street Fighter IV on PC/PS3 (yes, I have it both on PC and on the PS3) and I have to say it brings back memories when I was first introduced to Super Street Fighter II on the SNES.

Can you believe the SNES cartage still works after eighteen years?!?! Anyways I’ve also got something else to fuel my addiction;

Yes it’s the Hori Real Arcade Pro 3 for the PC and PS3! and here’s a few more pics of my lovely new toy.

I’ve already ordered new Sanwa buttons from Lizard Lick for the stick (the stick is a Sanwa stick by default) since it comes with stock Hori buttons which aren’t bad but if you want the authentic Japanese arcade feel, you’ll definitely won’t cheap out and use the stock hori buttons. I’ll probably show some pics as a gut open the stick to swap the buttons whenever my order comes in. I also have a Mayflash stick (which is also for the PS3/PC and PS2) that I bought for CHEAP at Pacific Mall when I didn’t know anything about sticks but once I tried it and got accustomed to it, I knew right away it wasn’t going to last.

As you can see there is no comparison between the two especially when the design of the Hori is more user friendly then the Mayflash, although I could have replaced the stick and buttons on the Mayflash with Sanwa parts, it wouldn’t be worth my time and money. So if anyone wants a started stick for cheap I’m getting rid of it otherwise I’ll have two sticks to play with when people come over .
